Dawn Staley should be the 76ers next Head Coach.

Another year and another early exit from the NBA Playoffs for the Philadelphia 76ers. They fired Doc Rivers following a third straight exit in the second round of the playoffs, and the second time over that span he lost a series lead and a Game 7.   There could be hope for the franchise after all, and that’s if they hire Dawn Staley as their next Head Coach.  Staley has an incredible resume as a coach and player, and the Philadelphia 76ers would be wise to hire her as their next head coach for several reasons.  Here are just a few:

1. Staley has a proven track record of success as both a coach and player. She led the South Carolina Gamecocks to three Final Four appearances and a national championship in 2017. She has also led the United States women’s basketball team to three Olympic gold medals as both a player and coach. Her experience in high-pressure situations and ability to lead a team to success would be invaluable assets to the 76ers.

2. Staley has strong ties to Philadelphia. She was born and raised in the city and played her college basketball at the University of Virginia. She has always maintained a strong connection to the city and has even coached the Philadelphia-based AAU team, the Philadelphia Belles. Her knowledge of the city and its basketball culture would be a huge asset to the 76ers.

3. Staley is a trailblazer for women in sports. As one of the most successful coaches in women’s college basketball, Staley has broken barriers and paved the way for other women in the sport. Her hiring by the 76ers would be historic and send a powerful message about the team’s commitment to gender equity and diversity.

4. Staley has a reputation as an excellent communicator and motivator. Her ability to connect with players and get the best out of them has been a key factor in her success as a coach. With a young and talented roster, the 76ers could benefit greatly from Staley’s leadership and ability to inspire her players to reach their full potential.

In conclusion, Dawn Staley would be an excellent choice for the Philadelphia 76ers as their next head coach. Her success as a coach and player, connections to the city, commitment to diversity and inclusion, and ability to inspire and motivate players make her an ideal candidate for the job. It’s time for the 76ers to make a bold move and hire Staley to lead them to success in the years to come.
