2020-21 NBA Predictions

The NBA season is back and there is a lot of excitement on the air.  The first noticeable thing that is back is team arenas, although empty at least there is no bubble. We will see throughout the season how the players will do as far as being careful and taking care of themselves.  We got new rookies to look out for in James Wiseman, LaMelo Ball and Anthony Edwards.  New faces in new places like Gordon Hayward getting his money and then some in Charlotte, Danilo Gallinari signing with the Hawks, and Montrez Harrell moving across the hall in LA to the Lakers.  As far as trades James Harden is still in Houston as of this writing but that may or may not change at all this season.  Russell Westbrook did get traded to DC for John Wall who is looking to make a major comeback in Houston.  But let’s get to the division winners.

The Atlantic Division

The Nets will win the Atlantic division but I don’t see this coming easy at all with stacked  comp being the Raptors who will no doubt give them a fight, the Celtics who will give them a run for their money and the 76ers who may be a lot or steady and less controversial with Doc leading the way. Final standings will be Brooklyn, Boston, Toronto, Sixers all packed up tight and the Knicks 20 games out of first. The Nets will also win the east and go to the NBA finals after beating the Bucks in 7 games.

The Central Division

For the past few years the Milwaukee Bucks have underachieved. The will win their division this year but will have a larger test at stake. An NBA championship is within their sights. They just have to play like it. Photo by Sircharlesincharge.com

The central division is nowhere near as competitive as the Atlantic. The Bucks will run away with this thing again and the true test will be to see who comes in 3rd as the Pacers will be in second place. I think the Bulls will hold off Detroit but barely and Cleveland will show some fight once in a blue but finish last.

The Southeast Division

The Miami Heat surprised a lot of people last season. With their Championship appearance last season they have a bullseye on them. You can’t underestimate this team at all. Photo by MiamiHerald.com

One division that will have some shake up will be the southeast. The Heat will get first place again but after that there will be a battle for second between the Hawks and the Wizards. I really believe Westbrook and Beal will make that team a force and shock some people. The Hawks will also factor into this as I believe they added the right pieces to contend in the southeast.  The rest of the scene will be Orlando and finally Charlotte.

The Northwest Divison

We have the Utah Jazz winning the Northwest Division. Denver will give them a run for their money, but we got the Jazz pulling it out. Photo by KSL Sports

The northwest division will have some serious turnover since things are so close. The Utah Jazz will win it behind a career year from Donovan Mitchell with Denver a close second and Portland not far behind in 3rd. The Timberwolves will show improvement into the right direction and OKC will be rebuilding.

The Pacific Divison

The champion Los Angeles Lakers are favorites to win the Pacific. They made some changes on their rosters and just need a little time to gel. Other than thet they should look good. Photo Airalamo

Hail to the current champions Los Angeles Lakers who will repeat as division winners slightly over a refocused Clippers team. The Warriors even without Klay will be right behind the LA teams and make everyone remember their names again while the Suns with Paul running the point will win more games but not gain ground in the Pacific.  And finally the crownless Kings in Sac-town. The Lakers will be back in the finals.

As Harden makes life difficult for the Rockets the Mavs will take over as the new top dog led by the Unicorn and Luka. If Houston stays the way they are currently as far as roster then they should hold onto second while Memphis  comes in at 3rd and battles close for that 8th playoff spot. The Pelicans and Spurs will fill out the division as I see the Spurs heading further and further away from the Pop/Duncan glory days. If Zion stays healthy and breaks out I can see Ingram jumping to that all star level as well and making NO just as good in real life as people have them on paper.

We have the Lakers repeating as Champions for the 20-21 season. The Lakers are just too talented not to win. Photo by skysports
